Holy Angels Parish began ministering to those in need of food assistance in 1972. Since that time the ministry has grown to providing 1,200 food bags a month serving the Kane County areas of Aurora, North Aurora, and Montgomery (Kane County portions). All recipients are interviewed to determine eligibility based on Federal guidelines. The pantry receives a monthly allotment of USDA commodities.
Reverse Collection Weekends; The first weekend of every month a food collection is gathered at all the weekend masses. Especially needed item slips are distributed during mass the previous weekend.
Donations may also be dropped off any Monday morning. We are always in need of; canned vegetables, toilet paper, baby food and diapers and personnel care items. Financial contributions may be sent to the parish center, clearly marked, "FOOD PANTRY." Memorials made to the pantry will be acknowledged to the family as requested. Most contributions are spent buying food from a Second Harvest Distributor at .14 a pound.
Volunteers who are able to speak Spanish are needed any morning of distribution.
